August Underground Movie Review

August Underground Tells a story of a killer and his camera man. They go around doing normal day things but also murder people. It basically chronicles these two friend's life in a very up close and personal way. It's even filmed like a home video which makes it all the more realistic. This movie made me extremely impressed by Fred Vogel. I think it's his best movie he has made. But it's kind of hard to explain because there is literally no plot. But thats not necessarily a bad thing.

The film is very well made. The acting is really realistic and makes it a really effective movie. The way the camera is handheld also makes it seem like a real home video. I normally don't like films that are filmed that way but this is the exception I think it worked to their advantage and made it a really strong and effective movie. The way the movie unfolds is great, there are some slow parts to kind of flesh out the movie and so you can get used to the characters. But when the movie kicks in it goes all out. This is one of the craziest movies I have seen in my life and that means allot because I've seen many crazy movies.

This is my favorite Fred Vogel movie, I've seen August Underground Mordum and was not impressed. I thought the Murder Collection was mediocre, The Redsin Tower was enjoyable and I liked Sella Turcica. But this movie blew me away. It's so really good and is an impressive first film for Fred Vogel.  I can also see why people don't like it though.

It has some offensive and disturbing scenes in it. Another thing that people might not like is that is has absolutely no plot at all. Which will definitely bother the average film buff who is interested in a good story. But I think as a whole this movie has a story. Although they have a funny way of showing it. I think that the way it is set up and filmed really works and helps the tone and the realism of the movie and some of the things they do seem really crazy for an independent feature.

I liked the characters and though Fred Vogel was a perfect killer. He had fun,but with a very dark and sadistic tone which made the movie all the more scarier. The design of his basement was disgusting and I'm still thinking of how awful it would be to clean that after filming. The other character who we never see because he is the camera man is also good at profiling this killers life.

Overall I really loved this movie. It may not appeal to all audiences though. But for those who have any interest at all in this movie should definitely check it out. I really enjoyed it and think it's a movie really worth watching. It's mainly for fans of extreme horror so if you are sensitive I would stray far away from this movie and watch some thing more light hearted. I would give this movie an 8/10 but I know this isn't something that will appeal to everyone.

Where The Dead Go To Die is a movie about a group of kids that live in a town and lets just say very disturbing things start happening. There is a child who is told by a demon dog to murder his mother's unborn child, a man who murder's people and takes their memories and another child who has his brothers fetus stuck on his face because when his mother was pregnant with him they were twins but sadly they did not separate. The kid also has a crush on this girl that lives near him and he discovers a very disturbing secret about her.

This movie is extremely disturbing. Although animated it's very dark and has many extremely disturbing things in the movie. When I first saw it I was blown away, in total shock at the horrors portrayed in the movie. These kids have extremely disturbing lives which makes the movie very sad and depressing. The animation is really good, considering it was only done by one guy. Although it  has some glitches it still looks great.

The stories in this anthology like movie are all very disturbing and there are some really sick scenes in this movie. This movie is not for the faint of heart. But if you can handle the subject matter of the movie it is definitely worth a watch. The movie also shows depressing things from a childs perspective. You see how the adults are effecting this childrens lives and how horrible they are to them.

The name of the director is Jimmy ScreamerClauz, some may already know of him from his music career. But I think his animation is my favorite thing he does. I've had a chance to talk to him online and he even let me be a voice extra in his new upcoming feature, when black birds fly. Which should be completed by the end of this year and hopefully be out December.

Overall I really like the movie Where The Dead Go to Die. It's extremely disturbing but shows a certain beauty also. I think Jimmy Screamerclauz did a great job with the movie and I would highly
reccomend this movie with extreme caution to those who haven't seen it. This movie deserves a solid 8/10.

Murder Set Pieces Film Review

       Murder Set Pieces is a movie about a Neo-Nazi who is a photographer. He photographs women and then murders them. He is also misogynist  due to his rough past with his mother. He is dating a girl whose sister thinks he is a very sketchy man to be dating and she thinks he is scary. His girlfriend's sister slowly finds out that he is a serial killer and thats where the movie gets good.

       Murder Set Pieces is a very slow movie, I found myself being a little bored during the movie although I believe it is a good movie. I really like this movie. I think it's really well made. Nick Palumbo did a great job with the movie. It looks really great. The way they filmed it shows unique style and is very original. The characters are good but the acting is terrible, which hurts the movie's serious tone.

     The movie would have been very disturbing and scary if the acting was actually decent. But that didn't really bother me. I really liked it over all but it is very small. It's a fantastic movie and a scary serial killer movie. Even though it has some bad acting and it's basically just a rehash of Nick Palumbo's first movie Nut bag. I have yet to see nutbag but it's on my list of movies to watch.

       Overall I really enjoy the movie and think it is really well done. It's very stylistic with it's very interesting cinematography and the way it is filmed. The flash back scenes all work into the film very well unlike the average flash back where it comes off annoying. The ending for the movie is good and I really liked the special effects of this movie. It was done by toetag pictures and is great.The ending is fantastic and it's and overall great movie the only problem I had was the awful acting. I would give it a 7/10 and would recommend watching it.

Grotesque Film review

Grotesque is a 2009 japanese film that tells the story of a man who kidnaps a couple and tortures them for his sheer excitement. He promises to let them go if they can make his reach his peak of happiness and they do. This is where you think the film  is going to get better for the couple. The man is actually a doctor and tells them he will treat their wounds, and he does but will he really let them leave?

I liked this movie it was a very interesting movie and the special effects were top notch. The only problem I had was that the plot is very little it's basically just a torture movie with a mild story. But other then that this is a good movie. The villain is fantastic you really believe that he is a twisted person and that makes this movie really believable. Like a said the effects are top notch and are fantastic they are amazing. 

Like I said though there isn't a huge plot, there is some but it's not something you really need to think about and I think that that hurts the movie a little. Another thing that hurt it was the marketing of the film they play it off as if it is the sickest film of all time and that it got banned in the U.K, but it's really not bad at all. But that also lead me to have a certain idea on what I thought this movie was going to be like. 

Overall this is an okay movie, if your into extreme shockers then check it out. If your not really into that sort of thing then I would not really recommend it because it doesn't really have anything to appeal to the average horror fan. I would give this a 6/10. It's got fantastic special effects but the story fall a little flat.

Battle Royale Movie Review

            This movie is incredible, the movie is about a bunch of teens who are brought on an island and are forced to kill each other. If they don't in a few days time their necklaces will explode and they will die no matter what. Thats the general plot, there are many characters who are put in this horrible situation and are forced to fight each other to the death. 

          This is an amazing movie. Everything in this movie is absolutely flawless, all of the characters are really cool and really make this movie good. Another thing that makes it a great movie is the plot, it really sucks you in because the characters are so likable and you don't really want to see them die. The villain in the movie is fantastic and is the perfect villain to the movie. Another thing that makes this movie fantastic is it's special effects all of them  are amazing. The filmmaking is also really well done everything from the fantastic camera work to the lighting and the setting. The acting is all fantastic and I have yet to find anything bad about the movie. 

If you are into foreign movies and have not seen this movie then I would highly recommend this movie. This is a very special movie and is worth a watch. I am a huge fan of it and think that it is extremely well done. The movie has so many twists and turns through the whole movie. The characters really react to the horrible situation they are in and it really shows their survival mode. This is definitely one of the best movies of all time.

Overall I have yet to find anything wrong. I think this is a fantastic movie and I would give it a 9/10 it's amazing. I would recommend this to everybody. Anyone who likes action movies or any movie of that matter. I think this is definitely worth a watch.

Gummo Movie Review

Can there be a perfect film? Yes and the answer to that question is Harmony Korine's Gummo.

Gummo is a film about a town in Xenia, Ohio who has just been hit by a tornado and it's basically just about a bunch of odd people who live in this small town. There are many odd people including two brothers who ride around on bikes looking for cats to kill so they can sell them to a local store. A boy who walks around with bunny ears. Two sisters who are obsessed with self image and have lost their cat. It's characters like that that make this film so great.

The reason why this film works is because of it's originality. All of the characters are completely original and are very fun to watch. The way the film is filmed and edited is bizarre and fascinated at the same time and it just has a certain fell that makes the movie so great. There is just a certain charm to Gummo. I'm not sure why it's such a charming movie but it just is. I believe this is the first time Korine showed his true potential as a director. I've seen kids and love it but he just wrote that larry clark directed  it. Julien donkey boy, his first feature is just okay in my humble opinion.  The end of this movie is sheer perfection with shoots of a tornado to the song crying. Was a perfect choice of song and really tied the film together.

But Gummo is a Fantastic movie and is one of my favorite movies of all time. Although I can see why people can disagree with me. Some people won't get the art and beauty of this. It's mainly just a matter of what people believe is art and what people don't and this is a beautiful piece of art. The characters are great and everything about this movie is so good. I would give this film a 10/10 a perfect score! I would recommend it to people who just want to see something different and odd. This is an amazing movie.

Murder Collection Vol.1 Review

                                                   Murder Collection Vol. 1 Review

The Murder Collection Vol.1 is a film directed by one of my all time favorite directors the legendary Fred Vogel. The film is basically a bunch of random scenes of death and violence compiled into one movie. It's almost a social commentary on how society is obsessed with violent things such as mondo films and snuff movies. They are all random stories of murders, fights, autopsies. Featuring very realistic special effects and Camera work that would make it seem real and not a professionally filmed movie.

I really like The Murder Collection Vol. 1 I thought it was a pretty good horror film. Although I do think it gets a little boring after a while. The main problem with the movie is there is basically no plot and it's just a bunch of people getting murdered. Almost like a gore effect real for a special effect company. Don't get me wrong the special effects in this movie are absolutely flawless. Especially in the autopsy scene it looks extremely realistic. My only problem with that though is that is was basically just ten minutes of an autopsy. Which after a while gets kind of boring.

I didn't really know what to expect going into the movie but I have to say I wasn't really impressed or surprised by anything in the movie. After a while it was almost painful to watch because some of the scenes can last up to twenty minutes and you just want it to stop. The ones that really are the key scenes , the truly memorable  scenes include the autopsy and the lover one. Sure there are a few others that were good but none that really stand out.

Overall if your into special effect make up and thats your thing seek this film out. It's basically an effect real. The toe tag team always out do themselves with special effects they always look realistic and fantastic. But if you like a story I would stay away from this one. I would give it a 4/10, it's worth watching for the effects but without plot there is no point. Maybe there will be a volume two to prove me wrong.
