Visceral Between The Ropes of Madness

Visceral Between The Ropes of Madness is a nasty movie from Chile. The film depicts a boxer who loses the biggest match in his career. After this loss he becomes insane and begins his decent into darkness in murder. The film is goes in and out of flashbacks of before and after the loss and shows a truly insane depiction of a man down on life. He goes completely mad and begins to kill people in extremely cruel and brutal ways. All while hallucinating about another entity who is telling him to kill.

This film is a little hard to follow at times. The movie cuts from flash backs to present time without any warning and it consistently does this. Although it is an interesting way to tell the story it can be a bit confusing, especially in the beginning of the film. The movie has a very surreal aspect and sometimes that can be hard to follow also. The film features great performances especially from the lead who is very good at portraying the madness of this man. The effects and death scenes are pretty grotesque looking especially with the use of ropes in the bondage of the victims. It gives it a very brutal and uncomfortable vibe to the whole movie. The film is pretty mean and brutal and it's already got a decent amount of  attention due to it's cruelty and  extreme nature. There are definitely a ton of scenes in this movie that would be considered extreme and cruel. An example of the cruelty in this movie would be a very memorable scene where the boxer decides to tape up a woman and tie her to a ceiling and very brutally use her as a punching bag.

There were definitely a few problems with this movie.I didn't exactly buy the whole meaning to why this man begins to kill people. It doesn't exactly make a whole ton of sense. I also thought the way the story was told, although interesting, could be a bit distracting and confusing. The film had a ton of positives though. It's very well shot and the acting and effects are all very good. If your a fan of extreme cinema and want something that is a little over the edge this cruel movie may be for you.
